Building a future-proof Ukrainian financial market based on international standards

Welcome to the SWIFT Business Forum Kyiv

Welcome to the first SWIFT Business Forum in Kyiv, organised together with UkrSWIFT, the SWIFT national member and user group for Ukraine.

The agenda for this event will combine keynote speeches and panel discussions to address a number of topics and questions that are highly relevant for the Ukrainian financial community. We will look at the roadmap for the next five years for the Ukrainian financial market and what role SWIFT can play in this context to help the market achieve its ambitions. The “Program of Ukraine Financial Sector Development until 2020” states as its objective to “create a financial system that can ensure sustainable economic development through effective reallocation of financial resources in the economy based on the development of a full-fledged market competitive environment in line with the EU standards.” In the opening plenary, we will look at these objectives, hear updates on the progress that is being made, and assess how SWIFT’s 2020 strategy caters for some of the reforms that are proposed.

We will ask ourselves what digitalisation means for the payments industry and what its impact is on customer experience. How fast is the shift towards ISO 20022 and real-time payments? What are Ukraine’s plans with regards to ISO 20022 in both the payments and securities markets? What lies behind the ISO 20022 hype, and how does this trend apply at industry scale in the real world? What progress are Ukrainian banks making in improving efficiency and effectiveness in the area of financial crime compliance? How are solutions to support banks in complying with financial crime regulation evolving to better meet their needs? And how does the SWIFT2020 strategy cater for all of this change and how does it translate big trends into concrete developments in SWIFT’s products and services? Also, responding to the growing interest from corporates in Ukraine, we will provide you with the latest updates on SWIFT for corporates including Lite2 connectivity, integration and on boarding support.

You will hear from renowned industry speakers, alongside SWIFT experts, on all of these topics and learn about what SWIFT is doing to meet the needs of its community. This will include the presence of the SWIFTLab in the exhibition area during the coffee and lunch breaks and will offer you the opportunity to see demos of SWIFT products such as demonstration of My Standards, Sanctions Screening, The Know Your Customer Registry ( KYC), Alliance Lite2 and SWIFTRef.

We hope that you will join us on 19 May. The event will present an unrivalled opportunity to hear first-hand the views of key experts from your region’s financial community about a range of issues that are critical to your institution’s ability to deliver - and build on - business as usual in unusual times.

The event will be conducted in Ukrainian/Russian, with English simultaneous translation.

We look forward to seeing you in Kyiv.
